Look out for delivery scam smishing

Many individuals will be checking their phones to keep tabs on package arrival times. Scammers know this, so expect a spike in delivery scam smishing — or SMS phishing — attempts. If you spot anything that seems suspicious, don’t click on any links. Verify the information through the company’s website or app.

Download an authenticator app

Given that it’s possible to use SIM swap scams to get around traditional two-factor authentication, which typically relies on one-time passcodes sent over SMS, downloading an authenticator app can provide some additional security for select accounts.
